PFAS—also known as “forever chemicals”—are becoming a growing concern for municipalities across North America. But what role do infrastructure materials play? In this article, we break down:

  • Why PFAS matter in sewer systems
  • How material selection impacts long-term environmental risk
  • What to look for in PFAS-free solutions

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are known as “forever chemicals” for a reason—they don’t break down easily. That’s why choosing PFAS-free infrastructure materials can make a difference over time.

Tim’s Tip for June! PFAS are often called “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down over time—they persist in soil, water, and infrastructure systems for decades. Recent studies have shown that PFAS are present throughout the wastewater cycle, including in biosolids and treated effluent, raising concerns about their long-term impact on water quality. That’s why material selection matters more than ever.

Choosing components that don’t introduce PFAS into the system helps reduce the risk of long-term contamination and supports cleaner, more sustainable infrastructure. Because what goes underground today doesn’t just stay there—it can impact the system for generations.

Cracked concrete rings? Leaks? Repeat repairs? 😩 It’s chaos you don’t need.

PRO-RING installs fast, seals tight, and stays put—so your crews can focus on the next project instead of fixing the last one.

Stop the madness. Work smarter. Move faster.

Summer is prime season for manhole maintenance! ☀️

Dry weather and lower groundwater levels make it easier to manage inflow and infiltration while crews repair or replace structures. Faster curing times for materials like asphalt and concrete mean projects finish quicker, keeping roads open and communities moving.

Plan ahead—summer is the time to get manhole work done efficiently and safely.

Are the materials in your sewer infrastructure contributing to long-term environmental risk? As PFAS regulations evolve, municipalities are taking a closer look at what’s going underground—and staying there for decades.

Not all manhole adjustment systems are created equal.

If PFAS compliance matters to your municipality, it’s worth asking: Does your current solution contain toxic forever chemicals?

Hot weather = fast, efficient manhole work. ☀️

Summer’s dry conditions and lower water levels reduce inflow and infiltration challenges, while paving and resurfacing projects allow crews to coordinate repairs seamlessly. Take advantage of the season to complete manhole adjustments quickly and safely—before the fall rains arrive.
